steering committee working on establishing a Lewis County Chamber of Commerce met last
week and scheduled a meeting to provide information and attract members to the
organization.
Committee Chair Kenny Clark said the meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 24,
from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the E.V. Holder Jr. Lions Center in Fairlane Drive in
Vanceburg.
Clark said the meeting will be informal and refreshments will be provided. All
Lewis County business owners and individuals are welcome to attend the meeting.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity to become a member of the
organization.
Individuals and non-profit groups may become a member for a $35 annual
commitment. Businesses with fewer than five employees would pay $50 per year for
membership. Businesses employing more persons would pay on an incremental scale up to $200
for those employing more than 50.
A flat fee of $100 was set for professional firms and agencies while banks will
pay depending on the deposits with the bank. |

speaks with committee members Amy Kennedy and Craig Stanfield at a meeting last week.
The Chamber of Commerce allows networking of its members and helps to bring the
community together and keep the dollars here. A Chamber also promotes and encourages
private enterprise and works to unify the direction of the business community.
Committee members emphasized that the Chamber will not be directly affiliated
with the city or county governments although politicians and elected officials may hold
non-voting memberships with the Chamber. |
