NewsAnnual Dinner and Best of the Best
Awards! July 30, 2007: The Lewis County area thrives on
great people and great business! That is why the Lewis County Chamber of
Commerce is sponsoring the third annual "Best of the Best" awards for
2007. This program recognizes those individuals and businesses which have helped make Lewis County a wonderful place to live. The awards were presented at the Chamber's annual dinner meeting on Thursday, July 26, at the Lewis County Extension Office. The "Spirit Award for Business Beautification", presented to the business that has made the best effort to upgrade and beautify its store front/office property: The City of Vanceburg for the restoration of the George Morgan Thomas Home. "Manufacturer/Industry of the Year", presented to a manufacturer/industry that has shown commitment to the county
by involvement in the creation of jobs, capital investments and/or endowments: Coroplast.
"New Business of the Year", presented to a new business that opened its doors between January 2006 and the present. The new business needs to have shown commitment to the county by involvement in the creation of jobs and capital investments: Corner Cupboard Flowers and Gifts in Vanceburg (Beverly Moore). "Educator of the Year", presented to an individual employed by the Lewis County School System or who lives in Lewis County and is employed in an educational capacity at a college/university who supports and encourages advances in education of Lewis Countians: Jerry Bloomfield, Principal at Laurel Elementary. "Agribusiness of the Year", presented to the enterprise that represents outstanding knowledge and
understanding of agriculture and its impact on Lewis County: Dee's Greenhouse
in Garrison (Dee and Angie Potter). "Community Organization of the Year", presented to the Lewis County organization that displays outstanding
community support for programs that benefit the citizens of Lewis County: Lending
a Helping Hand Food Pantry in Tollesboro (Sue and George Calvert). "Lewis County Business of the Year", presented to a locally owned business that has shown support and
persistence in working toward improving the quality of life in Lewis County: Impact
Custom Graphics/The Sign Shop at Charters (Jamie Christie).. "Meriwether Lewis Award" for
outstanding service and contributions to the improvement of the quality of life
in Lewis County: Dr. William M. Talley in Vanceburg.
