Donations for Veteran's Memorial Park
Most of us can appreciate the saying “There’s no place like home”; that warm and welcome place that is like no other. When the Vietnam War veterans, who were lucky enough to return home, arrived at their destinations they were not always met with loving and welcoming arms. In some places, they were spat upon and called names. Few were thanked for risking their lives to do what their county asked of them. Most were not given the recognition they so deserved. Unlike the jubilation and appreciation the World War II vets received upon their return, Vietnam veterans were often met with hostility and rejection when they returned home.
Vanceburg, Kentucky is a rural community in Lewis County, the northeastern region of the state. Like many rural areas, many of its residents enlisted to serve their country. The Lewis County Chamber of Commerce is securing the help of donations through PayPal to raise money to establish a Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Park to honor those who served their country and did not receive the thanks they deserved. Please donate now to help us in our quest to build a warm and welcoming place which will allow us to give these men and women the respect and gratitude they so rightfully deserve.
